Kick off the holiday season with us at our Festive Open Days! Book a reserved 90-minute slot filled with christmassy train rides and all the festive fun of our regular open days—plus some extra holiday magic.

During your visit, the whole family can meet Father Christmas in his grotto, a perfect festive memory waiting to happen. Don’t forget to come in your favourite Christmas jumpers for that extra-festive-cheer!

Your visit includes:
  • On arrival you will be invited to meet Father Christmas in his grotto where all children will receive a present.
  • Upon your return to the Millerbeck platform you will be invited to enjoy your train rides during your time slot
  • Each adult ticket includes one mulled wine or hot drink and a warm mince pie
  • Each child ticket includes one squash and a warm mince pie, plus their present from Father Christmas.
  • Each baby (under 12 months) receives a present.


Additional refreshments, including cakes, biscuits, ice cream, and marshmallows for toasting will also be available for purchase from our station house.


By submitting your booking request, you agree to the following:
  • To manage visitor numbers, every attendee must book a ticket (children's tickets are valid up to 14 years old).
  • Multiple trains will run continuously throughout your visit, allowing you to enjoy several rides.
  • All tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable, and not valid if resold. If we must cancel the event, you'll be offered a transfer to a future date.
  • This is an outdoor, all-weather event. We operate rain or shine, so come prepared! Tickets cannot be transferred or refunded due to weather.
  • Dogs on leads are welcome. Smaller, well-behaved dogs may be able to ride with you on the train.


You must be prepared to remain at Millerbeck (including the car park) only for your allotted time. We can only accommodate you and your vehicle during your reserved slot.

Please observe the following terms & conditions:
  • Event Changes: We may need to adjust the event format without prior notice.
  • Outdoor Event Advisory: As this is an outdoor event with limited shelter and some walking, please dress appropriately for wet weather if needed.
  • Parking and Ground Conditions: In the case of poor ground conditions from extended wet weather, visitors may be dropped off at the Railway entrance; however, parking could require a short walk.
  • Passenger Responsibility: All passengers travel on the railway at their own risk.
  • Ticket Policy: Tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable, and cannot be resold. They are issued with the understanding that Millerbeck Light Railway reserves the right to make any necessary changes to the event schedule.
  • Payment Security: Debit and credit card details are not stored after processing.
  • Ticket Accuracy: Please check your ticket carefully. If there is an error, contact us immediately, as not all mistakes can be corrected post-purchase.
  • Lost Tickets: Millerbeck LR is not responsible for tickets lost or not presented at the event. Replacements may be issued only at Millerbeck LR's discretion.
  • Privacy Policy: For information on our privacy practices, please visit our website. Only essential data is retained in hard copy and electronically to process bookings.

Millerbeck Light Railway Conditions of Carriage (Click to View)
Please observe the following safety guidelines:
  • Do not lean out of the carriage or attempt to disembark while the train is moving.
  • Due to limited clearance on parts of the line, keep hands and feet inside the carriage at all times.
  • Caution: Steam locomotives are extremely hot and may emit hot cinders, water, and soot, which could cause damage to clothing. If preferred, a non-steam train may be available for your journey.
  • Passengers must have a valid ticket and travel entirely at their own risk.
